Cutest father son duo
I was lucky enough to have Joel and Elias stop by for a cut last week. I love seeing multiple members of a family. It’s so fun! Always so impressed when kids can sit still for a cut. Thanks again Joel & E!
Oribe signature cut class with Tom Gallagher
Last month the staff at Jau Jou studio was treated to a class taught by creative director for Oribe Tom Gallagher. He flew out from New York to teach us the “Oribe signature cut”. Oribe is arguably most well known for creating hair for Victoria secret models. His celebrity clientele also includes, Jennifer Lopez, Mila Kunis, Anne Hathaway, January Jones ect… The signature cut is basically the Victoria secret model haircut. The first picture was our inspiration for the cut. Followed by pictures of Tom teaching class and a before and after of my model. Megan was lovely enough to be my model for class. I also did an all over color on her hair and added some highlights to brighten everything up. The class was challenging and it was exciting to learn a new way to cut long layers. I’m really happy with the end result. If you are interested in learning more about Oribe, his products, or to see videos of him and his staff at work visit www.oribe.com enjoy!
This is my gorgeous friend/client Kristin Cofer. She is a woman with exceptional style. I love doing Kristin’s bangs! She likes them to be above the brows, rounded & blunt. I will admit I have struggled with them in the past. But I have been doing her hair for a while now and have it down! We also darkened up her color s bit. I was pretty stoked on the final result. Holiday photo shoot for Modcloth
last year my friend kristin Cofer was working as a photographer for modcloth. I was able to work with her on a photo shoot that was used in their new years campaign. It was super rad to see hair I styled on a website that my friends and I regularly shop! Plus getting to work with friends is the best! thank you to my lovely and talented friend Kristin Cofer for giving me such a great opportunity and taking beautiful pictures of my work.
I DID HAIR FOR AN OAKLAND A’s PLAYER!!!
Many of you may know that I’m a huge A’s fan. I have been trying to figure out how to do hair for some of my favorite players for years. This year I started punishing a couple of them on twitter and repeatedly telling them I should be doing their hair. The day before oakland’s last home stand with the tigers I saw josh Donaldson (3rd baseman for the A’s) ask on twitter where was a good place in Oakland to get his hair cut. I sent him my info and he was able to come in that afternoon. Josh was looking to get a faux hawk for the playoffs. He was super nice. We got to chat about baseball & shows on TLC (you know how much I love my trashy reality shows ;). Josh was even sweet enough to sign a ball for me! Unfortunately the A’s ended up losing the tigers series. They are still ALWest champions and of course the only team I love. Bob Melvin was American League manager of the year and josh reddick won a golden glove. Not bad for a team that was expected to lose 100 games. Can’t wait for next year. Maybe I can add more players to my clientele. Josh reddick, Derek Norris, Brett Anderson, Travis blackley, grant Balfour…..
I WANNA DO HAIR FOR THE OAKLAND A’s!!!
A’s all of my friends and clients know i’m a huge Oakland A’s fan! By no means am I a sporty spice. I don’t really follow any other sports or teams besides the A’s. I have been a fan since I was a kid. This season I have been following them more than ever, going to games or watching most of them on tv. This season I have stepped it up a level. Last year I started following the A’s on facebook and in the last few weeks I finally jumped on the twitter bandwagon just to keep up on games & get to know the players more. I’ve been trying to reach out to Josh Reddick and Josh Donaldson to do their hair, though I would love to do Travis Blackley’s too (or any of them because I love them all)! This is mostly a sampling of my men’s haircuts. Even if I never get to do any of the players hair I have been meaning to add more men’s cuts to my blog. I have so many male clients I should really start taking more pictures. Lets Go Oakland!!!!!
No More Ponytail!
This is Loren. He came into the salon looking to make a major change. He was ready to let go of his ponytail. Loren told me it had been a few years since he was ponytail free and was ready to go back. The only direction he gave me was that he wanted to look more professional. I decided to go short on the sides and leave it a bit longer with lots of texture on top. Loren can push the top to the side for a more professional look or wear it messy. He seemed pretty stoked on it, aside from mentioning that he felt like he needed to trim down his beard. I really liked it! enjoy!
