New to town
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting and doing Kara’s hair. Kara is a super talented photographer and all around great girl. She was looking to keep most of her length and learn how to better work with her waves. I added some layers to enhance her natural texture and showed her a trick I use to spin her curls into a shape she likes. If you need a photographer check out her website!
Recently my friend lark asked me if I could teach her a few updo’s she could do on her own that would give her a bit of height. Lark is a very talented artist and was receiving an award in New York. She wanted something fancier than her everyday hair that she felt comfortable re creating. Her dress had a high collar so she wanted her hair off her neck. It was so much fun to play with Lark’s hair. I hear she has replaced her go to ponytail with a messy bun sometimes in her day to day life. It makes me happy to know I have taught someone another styling option that makes them feel good about how their hair looks.
Over being blonde
Taylor was a first time client who had been doing her own bleach touch up’s and was ready for a major change. This was definitely more of a tint back rather than the all over color appointment she was scheduled for. Taylor really liked my hair, but my hair is a couple shades darker than we took her. I told her we needed to be realistic about how dark we could go in the time we had available. After looking at some color swatches and her telling me she was afraid of her hair turning green we decided on a dark red violet based brown. 2 hours and 15 minutes later we were both pleased with the results. I think the darker hair really makes her eyes pop. I hope I get to see Taylor for her next touch up so we can go a little darker. It was super fun working with her!
Kim is always a delight to work with! He likes to experiment with different styles. This time we went old school gentleman. I’m obsessed with his hair color! Kim is the ultimate silver fox!
I call this the unicorn cut!
Katherine had been cutting her own hair for quite some time. Overall she was happy with the shape but described it as too bulky. I decided to basically cut a Mohawk while still keeping the sides but only in front of the ear. I described it a a combo of a Chelsea cut and a Mohawk but most people are not familiar with those references. It’s a super punk cut that not everyone can pull off. I’m so excited Katherine let me play with her fun hair.
Ari was a new client. She brought me in pictures of Beyoncé’s pixie cut and told me she used to have her hair that short. Its always daunting to cut off so much hair on someone you just meet. Especially when I only have 1 hour and 15 minutes in the middle of a busy Saturday. She was really stoked on it and said she felt more herself. Ari is such a sweetheart and I think the short hair definitely flatters her. Please keep in mind when choosing to make such a big change it is very helpful to us as stylists to know that such a large change is coming as it takes more time. A heads up to the receptionist is always very appreciated. Thank again to the lovely Ari for letting me make such a fun change.
The Donaldson is so hot right now. Been getting a few requests for this cut.
